Services
A service is a bookable offering. During onboarding you create the first one so your location has something to book.
First service
Three details are enough to start:
- Name: what the service is called in the booking flow, for example men's haircut.
- Duration: how long the appointment takes. Determines which slots in the calendar get occupied.
- Price
You do not need more for the first booking.
The structure behind it
So you find your way around later, here are the layers without the ballast:
Categories
Services are organized into categories, for example hair, coloring, massages. During onboarding nuvical creates a default category automatically, so you do not have to deal with it just yet. You maintain categories later in the admin at your own pace.
Variants
A service can have several variants, for example different lengths or prices: massage 30, 60 or 90 minutes. For the start a simple service is enough, add variants when you need them.
Segments and processing time
Advanced and entirely optional: some services run in steps. Take coloring: apply color, let it process, wash out. During the processing time the staff member is free and can serve someone else in parallel.
nuvical models this with Steps in a flow. You do not need it for onboarding. It only pays off once you offer services with real waiting phases.
